Solace

Solace is a wholly improvised collaboration from Jonathan Crossley, David Kollar, and Lukas Ligeti, born out of a 2024 artistic residency at the University of Liverpool. The album unfolds as a real-time dialogue between Crossley and Kollar's digitally enabled guitar work and Ligeti's polymetric, Africa-inflected drumming, drifting between ambient stillness, pulsating momentum, and intricate rhythmic terrain. On the title track, the trio is joined by Arve Henriksen, whose haunting trumpet lends a melancholic, open-ended beauty to the piece. Together, the four musicians create a shifting, exploratory soundscape — grounded yet unpredictable, intimate yet expansive.
