This release marks a milestone for the DiN label, celebrating its 25th anniversary. It's a significant achievement for this niche, independent label that has carved its own path for a quarter of a century. The catalogue and release schedule have been meticulously curated by Ian Boddy since the label's inception in the spring of 1999. His musical identity, rooted in the 1970s Berlin School, has evolved to encompass a broad range of electronic music, blending sub-genres freely.
While DiN has previously released many compilation albums, such as the eight iNDEX sampler albums showcasing tracks from existing releases, this double album stands out. Boddy invited musicians from the DiN catalogue to compose new pieces, resulting in 142 minutes of original, varied music across two discs. From ambient to dark soundscapes, cinematic electronica to old school Berlin School sequencer workouts, “25 Years of DiN” encapsulates the essence of the label.
The album is presented in a stunning six-panel fold-out Digipak double CD package, complete with an 8-page booklet featuring an essay by Neil Mason (Moonbuilding). This release is a must-have for collectors of DiN's output.
