"Working with Jason is always a pleasure. The songs are very well written and performed, they basically play themselves. I like his tones and the command over the unique Warr guitar on which he performs his songs almost orchestra like. Always a musical journey. Looking forward to his new release." - Marco Minnemann

Jason Blake has teamed up once again with drummer Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, Steven Wilson, Joe Satriani), to create his personal favorite work to date. The album was intended as a follow up to 2023’s Subsequent Ruins album. While there are similarities, he took a different approach to the music and composed/recorded it entirely with his Warr Artisan semi-hollow guitar in order to give it a more acoustic feel. As for the writing process, he included different aspects of his playing into each of the songs from heavy/dark passages to pretty/quiet sections.

The album title comes from an idea that occurred to Jason one day. In its simplest form, it is how the world changes around us and it feels like one day we “wake up” and everything is different from our past.

“While this album is a direct descendant of Subsequent Ruins, I feel like Marco and I have refined our sound and are even tighter on this album. I also approached the song writing a little differently with Marco specifically in mind. Ultimately, it takes the sound established previously and pushes it into new territories.

The basis of every song was created with my Warr Artisan guitar to create an acoustic more natural sound. I want to start distinguishing my solo work from that of my band, Aziola Cry. Since I compose the music for both projects, it was intentional to be less “heavy” than what I do with the band. Distortion was used more as a melody tone and something used more sparingly throughout. Also, since I perform these songs in a solo setting, I limited the amount of overdubs so that they could be performed live without sounding drastically different.” - Jason Blake
