David Kollar - Guitar Stories
“I’ve never seen the guitar played like this…” – Rick Beato
Recently featured on Rick Beato’s YouTube channel, Slovak guitarist and composer David Kollar returns with Guitar Stories, sixteen electric guitar improvisations recorded over the past two years. Each piece was captured in a single take using a looper, Ableton Live and a range of guitar effects, most of them in his home studio and several during a visit to Rick Cox in Los Angeles.
Chosen from more than twenty recordings, the sixteen tracks move through shifting textures, moods and intensities. Imperfections and surprises are left in place. In an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, Guitar Stories is a deliberately human record: music that happened once, in the moment.
Kollar has collaborated with Pat Mastelotto, Steven Wilson, Erik Truffaz, Arve Henriksen and KOMORA, and has scored the feature films MIKI and ČERNÁK.
