In March of 2021, I received a Loupé: a new hardware looper by French pedal manufacturer Glou-Glou. These recordings document some of my first explorations of this new electronic instrument, from March through May of this year. During that same period of time, I also received my two doses of the Pfeizer Covid vaccine.
As with the previous Six-String Mixtape editions, these are all live, in-studio, guitar + looper solo performances. Some of the tracks have the beginning and/or end chopped off; sometimes this is by creative design after the fact, and other times it's simply because I didn’t start recording until after I'd already started playing.
"Magnets and Microchips" is one continuous performance. The different parts are points where the improvisation settles into a new groove for a while, before mutating further.
“Herd ‘Em Unity” contains a couple of edits in the midst of the track (to get rid of a few too many redundant repetitions), but that’s the only mid-performance tweaking on the album.
